Koscher & W\u00fcrtz is founded by Stefan Koscher and Johann W\u00fcrtz, both master surgical instrument makers, in Spaichingen, Kirchstra\u00dfe 1, as a surgical engineering company.

\nBy manufacturing surgical instruments from milled blanks, Koscher & W\u00fcrtz successfully enters the field of medical technology. \n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Investments are made in machinery to independently produce
high-quality surgical hand-held instruments.

\nKoscher & W\u00fcrtz moves to Vorgasse 16 and now has five full-time employees.\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The first trainee starts his professional training as surgical instrument maker.
Since then, at least one trainee per year has been trained to become a surgical instrument maker. <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Due to steadily growing business and a continuous expansion of the product portfolio, an extension to the company building is required. Koscher & W\u00fcrtz increases its size to 1,500 m\u00b2 and now employs 28 staff members.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Construction of a completely new company building is started to meet the increasing requirements.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Covering a total area of about 5,000 m\u00b2, the current company building offers high safety and quality standards for our employees and provides modern workspaces as well as state-of-the-art machinery to manufacture mechanical components for high-quality, precision-engineered surgical instruments. <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2008<\/div>
The first trainee starts his professional training to become a cutting machine specialist in our internal CNC machining department.\nKoscher & W\u00fcrtz celebrates its 25th company anniversary.

A company outing to Europa Park followed by a dinner encourages team spirit among the staff and is enjoyed by everyone. \n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2013<\/div>
Koscher & W\u00fcrtz now employs 125 staff members who work in a modern company building which provides a staff-oriented, environmentally-friendly work environment and is prepared to meet future requirements. About 10 % of our staff are trainees and the proportion of woman is around 40%. Our production portfolio currently includes some 1,200 different variants of surgical instruments of which about 80% are exported.

\nKoscher & W\u00fcrtz celebrates its 30th company anniversary by arranging an anniversary party, an excursion with the entire staff as well as large family day.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2016<\/div>
An extension to the CNC machining space is added, covering an area of about 1,100 m\u00b2.
The staff canteen is extended by around 150 m\u00b2<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2018<\/div>
Due to steadily growing business and a continuous expansion of the product portfolio, another extension of the production floor is required. To do so, new property is purchased in the immediate vicinity at Einsteinstrasse 3.

Construction of a new building is started in August 2018. <\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2020<\/div>
Move into the new building in January 2020. New production space of 1,620 m\u00b2 has been created.

\nDue to strongly increasing customer demand, the production area needs to be extended again. In March, construction is started to raise the new building by one story.\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2021<\/div>
Move into the new upper floor in January 2021. New production space of 1,680 m\u00b2 has been created. \nThat means, the production area has meanwhile increased to cover a total size of around 11,000 m\u00b2, with the staff having grown to currently 200.

\nAdditionally, a new car park in the immediate vicinity is built in August to provide sufficient parking spaces for the staff. \n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2022 - 2023<\/div>
To enable increased production capacities, some minor structural reorganization measures were undertaken. These measures were completed in October 2023.

\n\nOn 15. November 2023, Gilde Healthcare joins Koscher & W\u00fcrtz GmbH as an investor. By acquiring Christian Diener GmbH in 2022 and Koscher & W\u00fcrtz GmbH in 2023, Gilde Healthcare has formed a corporate group under the name of Surgical Precision Instruments GmbH, to create a market-leading specialized contract manufacturing group in the field of surgical precision instruments.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

2024<\/div>
In April 2024, Gotthard von Falkenhausen is appointed as a co-CEO of Koscher & W\u00fcrtz GmbH and, at the same time, as a CFO of Surgical Precision Instruments GmbH .

\n\nIn November 2024, Thomas Schmitz is appointed as a further CEO of Koscher & W\u00fcrtz GmbH.

\n\nOn 31. Dezember 2024, the founders of Koscher & W\u00fcrtz GmbH - Stefan Koscher and Johann W\u00fcrtz \u2013 retire from the company which they have devoted more than 41 years to.
